Story
Well, I did it!! Our group got away at 11 last night and I crossed the line at 6.30 this morning. 7 and a half hours is my best time as well, not too shabby for an old bird!! It was a cool, cool night, which always helps me, and stayed dry. Once again, the event was well managed and marshalled, with 2 "comfort breaks" only taking me a total of 10 minutes!! Today, though, everything is sore. Hips, knees, ankles, you name it, it aches!! Another huge THANK YOU to every one of you, I could not have done this without your support (a special thank you to Louis, I could NOT have done this without you.) If you haven't donated yet, and if you would like to, not to worry, my webpage stays "open for business" for another 2 and a bit months, so please donate whatever you can. Breast cancer is a disease which has probably touched us all to a greater or lesser degree, and the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity is doing amazing work to research and combat it, but there is always a need for more funding. Many thanks again to everyone, and much love. Kath. X
Here we are again! We are counting down to midnight on Saturday 15 May 2010. Can you believe it is a whole year since I last said "NEVER AGAIN"!!!
For those of you who are not familiar, the Moonwalk is a 26 mile marathon (literally!) walk through the streets of London. 15,000 of us (14,000 of whom are female!) take it upon ourselves to start at midnight at Hyde Park, clad in not much more than our (usually beautifully decorated) bras and set off to walk 26 miles up hill and down dale (well, as close as we get to it in "The Smoke") in the hope that lots of our family, friends, work colleagues, random strangers (!) will pledge their support for us in our efforts to raise valuable funds for the Breast Cancer Charity.
I am sure many of us have direct or close acquaintance with this dreadful disease, and I have to say that I only Walk The Walk for selfish reasons. If it decided to knock on my door, I would want someone walking for me!!!
This year is my sixth Moonwalk "on the bounce"!! To those of you who have sponsored me (so generously) for my previous efforts, my heartfelt thanks, and I hope you can find it in your hearts to dig deep once again. To those of you who have not, please donate what you can.
So please dig deep everybody, and please do come back to visit this website every so often, I will keep you "abreast" of my progress!! (Sorry, couldn't resist!!!)
If you are interested in getting an idea of what we get up to, please check the website at www.walkthewalk.org. As you can see, besides having to walk 26 miles, it's a hoot of a night!!!
Much love to all
Kath
