Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am finally running the London Marathon 2024, deferral from last year, with only one week to go, I am now ready to embark on my 4th London Marathon (and 9th overall).  As part of my preparation, I am now starting to visualise myself on the start line and to see the finish line ahead!

My training has been eventful, but overall has gone well, which has included running Oulton Park Half Marathon in early March, joining Shobnall Leisure Centre to make good use of their track and training with Swad Joggers.

I would like to thank Paolo Lorio, Osteopathy of Swadlincote for 'fixing me' when required and my supportive husband Richard who deserves a medal for being head of logistics and being there for me, as well as Dominic, Lauren and Thomas, my team of supporters.

Thank you also to Nick Smith of Box & Beyond of Uttoxeter for kindly printing my name of my running vest!

Every amount you kindly donate goes direct to the Burton & District YMCA allowing them to continue to make a difference to so many lives, in a time of crisis.

Thank you.

April 2023 - With only two weeks to go  life has a habit of putting a spoke in the works, or in my case tendonitis of my Achilles.  With treatment from Paolo Lorio, Osteopathy, I had to come to terms with the fact I am unable to run the full distance and withdrawn from the London Marathon;  now waiting patiently for confirmation on 2nd May that my place has been deferred to next years marathon.

Thank you for all your support on behalf YMCA Burton  & District and I will be back!

Homelessness can happen to any one of us. It has no boundaries and lives & circumstances can change very quickly. No one wakes up & decides to be homeless, there are many reasons & life changing moments that can lead to sleeping rough on the street or sofa surfing night after night. We help people to change lives through a breadth of vital services. We provide homeless outreach, rough sleeper provision, emergency bed space, accommodation, family mediation, counselling, community foodbank, lunch club, support & engagement, complex needs support and have a number of furniture stores providing low cost quality furniture and new white goods. Thanks for supporting us & helping to raise much needed income. The impact of COVID-19 has been felt by everyone. Lives have changed, demand for our services has increased and our income has been significantly affected. We could not continue to do what we do without the help of others. Your help is never more needed than now - Thank you
