Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

About 18 months ago,  it became clear to us that Dad's memory wasn't as it should be.  After previously caring for Mum right up until the end, it was almost as if his purpose in life had gone.  Then he  lost his beloved dog but we were very lucky to find him a rescue Collie "Mick" (who he insists on calling "Nip" but  that's another story!!). Then, Altzheimers came to stay😡.   We are incredibly lucky to have two brilliant carers,  Pam and Jo.  Pam is currently one of the 1.5 million who has to shield for 12 weeks due to her own illness.  Jo is currently in sole charge & we are completely indebted to her.  Dad looks the picture of health, however his daily walk to the New Inn (The Strand) for his 2 pints obviously had to stop & he decided he wanted to do something to raise funds for the NHS (just like Captain Tom!).  It's 225 metres from Dad's back door to his stool at the Strand bar.  We measured the garden and it's exactly twice around.  Not sure how long he's likely to carry on doing this, as unfortunately it looks like it will be some time before The Strand reopens it’s doors.   Lets wait and see!!
