Story

Please keep giving! I'm absolutely delighted to have reached £2,500 but no need to stop there - let's see if we can get this to £3,000...

The cause: I have been a trustee of Sussex Cricket Foundation for the last few years, with particular responsibility for ‘health’. One of the projects that we run is Sporting Memories coffee mornings, for older people and people with dementia, and their carers. The mornings are all sport-themed - and are a wonderful break for those attending. I went to one of the mornings, just pre-Covid, and was so impressed with the friendliness and enthusiasm - even though the mornings aren’t aimed at me, but I had a fantastic time! The Sporting Memories groups have continued during lockdown (online) and are now getting going again in person - and in more locations in the county. Please do consider donating - and read more here https://sussexcricket.co.uk/sporting-memories

About my trip: I’m following the Sustrans route, which is about 1,300 miles (a pip shy of 2,000km). Those of you who have been following my blog will know that I’ve held off opening sponsorship until I am well on the way, because I am cycling this solo and wanted to be reasonably sure that I’d make it all the way before putting the word out! There’s still a chance I may not make it, of course, but I hope the distance I’ve already travelled will encourage you to donate anyway… Thanks to all my wonderfully supportive family and friends, and to Anna for flat-sitting while I’m away!

About the Foundation: As Sussex Cricket’s charitable arm, the aim of the Foundation is to actively change lives through cricket across the community. We use the game and the Sussex Cricket brand to deliver accessible and enjoyable opportunities that grow the sport, tackle inequalities, improve health and wellbeing and enable people to fulfil their potential. If you want to read more about the wider work of the Foundation, including during Covid, our excellent Impact Report is here https://sussexcricket.co.uk/news/sussex-cricket-foundation-impact-report-2021
