We provide support, services and advice to help autistic people and their families

Story

Come and join us for a fun Sunday walk in the park!

The Walk will help raise money for the National Autistic Society, which gave us with much-needed support and advice when our oldest son was diagnosed with autism last year.

Why do we need the National Autistic Society?

Although 500,000 people in the UK are on the autistic spectrum, there is little provision for them.  Most children with autism find themselves in mainstream schools, where 40% are bullied and 25% have been excluded. When they reach adulthood only 15% can expect to find employment. The NAS does excellent work providing services and education, campaigning for policy change and raising public awareness.

Why Thomas?

The NAS works with Thomas and Friends since Thomas the Tank Engine is a particular favourite of many children, especially those on the autistic spectrum.

If you would like to join us, please turn up at the Princess Diana Playground cafe in Kensington Gardens between 10 and 10.30am on Sunday 23rd May.   We will get a caffeine fix then head off for a leisurely walk/pushchair stroll around the park.  Thomas goodies for all children starting the race and extras for those completing at least ten minutes' walk!

The National Autistic Society is here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.
