Story
Kerry and Andrew were approached by Heather from Forget Me Not, through their links with Birse and Feughside Church. FMN provide much needed support for those with dementia and their carers. Heather asked us if we'd like to enter Strictly Come Prancing, which is a sell out event and a great fundraiser. 'NO' was our answer 'Definitely not, we cannot dance and it would be embarrassing'. Within 30 seconds the persuasive Heather had convinced us to enter, and the answer was 'yes, count us in'. After weeks of practice, the date (31st March) is getting very close, and tickets are selling well. What remains to ask is if any of our friends or colleagues would be so generous to make a donation, however small. We will attempt to get a video on the night, so that donors can witness what could be our moment of glory, or embarrassment!
Here are some examples of Forget Me Not's projects for those with dementia and their carers:
Ongoing projects: Therapies, Tai Chi, African Drumming Day, trips with small groups, respite weeks a couple of times a year.
New projects: An extension to our resource centre to create more capacity, cycling group with tricycles at Knockburn Loch, and overall help to keep our resource centre day to day costs covered.
