Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm not really much of a charity person but for once I thought I'd be altruistic and make an effort! Sadly, at the start of this year my best friend's father passed away from Motor Neurone Disease and I have seen first-hand the devastating effects it can have on both the person affected and their family.
Despite what has happened, both my friend Matt and his mother Diane have been courageous in the face of adversity. Matt in particular has had to grow up very fast over the past few months whilst being strong for his family. At 24, he shouldn't have to experience the death of a parent so early on in life...I can't imagine what he has had to go through. It's because of this that I both admire and respect him. His father Martin would be very proud of him.
It's because of this that I would like to make my contribution to the Garde family by running the half marathon in Birmingham this year. I don't run distance on the principle that I can't...I'm absolutely rubbish at it, but it's a small way of paying tribute to a loving father and husband.
Please give whatever you can to ensure that other families don't have to suffer the same way Matt's did. Thank you :)
