Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It has been five years since the start of the conflict in Syria. Heavy bombing and violence has destroyed local infrusture including hospitals, schools and bakeries, killing hundreds of thousands and resulting in millions more having had to flee their homes.
These desperate families have had no choice but to risk their lives to escape this war and persecution. The humanitarian crisis is particularly acute at the Idomeni crossing, where around 12,000 people are stranded after Austria and the Balkan states imposed a cap on entries, triggering a rapidly-growing build up in Greece.
It's incredibly heartbreaking so see what they are going through... today it is them and tomorrow it could be us...
A few friends and I are therefore planning to travel to Indomeni over the bank holiday weekend with the intention of supporting the refugee families stranded there.
