We use physical activity & exercise to improve the lives of people with cancer

Story

In 2012 my sister was diagnosed with non hodgkin's lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer. Gemma bravely tackled the chemotherapy thrown at her by using running to help her through  the treatment. One of my memories I have of that year is spending many days when she was feeling strong enough going out on runs with her (the only time I could ever keep up with her). Sometimes we would run along chatting about life and whats happened at work for me that week other times we would just run along in silence both enjoying being out in the fresh air and being able to run.

In 2014 my sister went into Remission and in 2015 the MOVE Charity founded by Gemma Hillier was born. This charities incredible work changes so many young peoples lives who have been diagnosed with cancer by supporting them using physical activity an exercise.

I am so proud of the incredible work that the MOVE Charity is doing for  young people fighting cancer and I want to help raise awareness and some funds to help support a charity very close to my heart.

As a keen triathlete I have competed in many triathlons over the years and a few years ago decided to compete in my first Full distance Triathlon ( 2.4mile swim , 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run) at the Outlaw Triathlon in Nottingham. Four years on I am back on the start list to race the full once again, this time with a few targets in mind, one of which is to break the 11 1/2 hour mark.

Training for a Full distance triathlon is by no means and easy journey and this one so far has had its challenges. My first outing and warm up event sends me to the Mallorca 70.3 this weekend.

I hope that my efforts this year not only in the events themselves but the hours of training Ive put in can encourage people to donate some money to an amazing cause that is the MOVE charity
