Story
Back in October of last year, Graham came up with another one of his ridiculous harebrained schemes: running the Paris Marathon in 2010. Somehow, he managed to convince a group of us in the office that this was a really good idea. (It still amazes me how he managed to talk me into giving up cigarettes for hours of countless pain instead!)
Fast forward to March 2010 and we are now just over two weeks away from the marathon. To help commemorate our foolish act, we thought it would be a good idea to raise money for a worthwhile cause. We have therefore decided to raise money for the Aplastic Anaemia Trust, a charity close to L.E.K.'s, and anyone who has competed in the London-Paris triathlon's, heart.
The AAT is based in St Georges Hospital, Tooting, and raises funds to promote research into aplastic anaemia and other bone marrow and anaemia disorders; when it first started raising funds in the mid 80s, if positively diagnosed, the survival rate 12 months later was around 10%. Competing in the triathlon two years ago really showed me the impact the charity has after meeting so many people who had successfully recovered from the disorder and were now taking part in the triathlon themselves, including a young boy who was less than 10 years old.
Therefore, we would like to ask the London office if they could dig down deep and sponsor this great cause and our hellish 26 miles!
Thanks,
Vik, Will, Tim, Kate, Graham and Pen
