We collect surplus food and redistribute it to those in need in our local communities

Story

Compliments of The House is a registered charity that collect fresh, surplus food and gives it to people in need.

We do this by:
• creating safe, fun and inviting hubs that give a warm welcome to everyone
• offering volunteer opportunities so that our guests can learn new skills
• arranging part-time work placements with the businesses that give us food and signposting people to services that can help them

Our Vision is a hunger and waste-free Britain, where people are not held back because they can not afford to eat.

Compliments of The House feeds around 65 people each night in Brixton, collecting from around 35 restaurants. It packs an environmental punch, saving over 576g of food from being wasted in April 2019 alone.

The charity has just opened a second branch in Hackney, but it urgently needs more funding to allow this vital work to continue.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

And if you live near Brixton or Hackney, check out the website for details of how to volunteer yourself!  https://complimentsofthehouse.org/

About the charity

Our small, unfunded, grassroots charity collects surplus food to reduce food waste whilst feeding our guests for FREE. We welcome anyone who is need of a meal or support. We are currently partnered with 30 local businesses, and run a Back to Work scheme that supports our guests back into employment.
