On the 30 October 2009, two weeks after his 46th birthday, Simon Adams was informed by a neurosurgeon that he was suffering from Motor Neurone Disesase. The prognosis is quite simple, death.
MND is a progressive neuro-degenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurons. Degeneration of the motor neurons leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. Life expectancy for the type Simon has is 6 months to 3 years.
On being told that he was terminally ill, Simon has written a "bucket list" of things to do before he dies. One of those things is to raise one million pounds for MNDA.
We are running with approximately 100 runners in the Plymouth half marathon on 30 May 2010. Together, we are trying to raise £100,000 for MNDA, contributing to Simon's one million.
All money donated will go directly to MNDA in the hope that they can use it to find a cure.
So please dig deep and donate now.
