I am running the 2024 Edinburgh Half Marathon for HORSEBACK UK in order to raise as much money as possible.They are a fantastic Charity and I would be so grateful if you could take the time to sponsor me to help the cause and to motivate me in my preparation.

HorseBack UK inspires positive change, encourages confidence and self-esteem, and promotes recovery in an individual. Using horsemanship and outdoor activities, we deliver nationally accredited personal development and wellbeing programmes which offer our participants new coping strategies, life skills and the tools to build resilience.development and wellbeing programmes which new coping strategies, life skills and the tools to build resilience.

There are a number of reasons why I have chosen to support Horseback UK:

They support the Royal Maines Charity, the RMA of which I am a member

They work with OpCourage the veterans mental health service from the NHS, delivered by CNTW in the north

Having become a horse mum over the last few years, I can testify to the impact of the horse human bond.  Learning to ride and care for horses is a great activity, social and solitary, physically demanding and cognitively challenging. Wonderful and terrifying.

Horses are sensitive and intelligent to our emotions and they ask us to manage our emotions in order to work well as a team.

Horses can certainly help you build determination and courage, unselfishness and cheerfulness in the face of adversity.

As a member of the wider military family, I feel a sense of duty to contribute.

As a military mum I keep locked in a little box in the back of my mind the thought that one day we might need help as a family, just like many families do right now.

As an Occupational Therapist, I truly believe that what you do and how you do it has the power to describe who you are.  ( That goes for me as well as all the people who benefit from the courses at Horseback UK)
