Story
In just over two months I will be running the London Marathon and taking this as an opportunity to support homeless people living on the streets I will be running through by asking you to join me in donating generously to the 999 Club.
The 999 Club aim to;
Enable people in south-east London who are currently homeless, have recently been homeless, or are at high risk of becoming homeless, to find a sustainable solution to their housing problem.
Support homeless people into work, or to return to their place of local connection.
Support homeless people in living productively and independently.
Until I reach my fundraising target, for every donation you make of;
Between £25 and £50 I will top your donation £5
More than £50 I will top up your donation with £10
I’d encourage you to commit to increasing your donation if I run my target time of under 3hrs…. Which is looking quite a stretch at the moment... .
I’ve lived in London for a decade now, a decade in which the number of people sleeping rough in London has nearly doubled with a 3% increase in the last year, in spite of emergency efforts during the pandemic to reduce the number of people sleeping on the streets. I’m sure my fellow Londoners have seen this with their own eyes.
The pandemic has hit the 999 Club with the double whammy of both an increase in the number of people that could benefit from their support and the cancellation of a huge number of the events from which they raise a significant proportion of their funding, including the cancellation and then further postponement of the London Marathon. So all the more reason to give generously!
