We provide emotional and practical support to help people affected by road death

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and hopefully we can persuade you to help us support the Road Victims' Trust.

Currently the participants are Mark Turner (Chief Executive of the Charity and a former Chief Superintendent in the Bedfordshire Police), Paul Jones (Trustee of the Charity and originator of this fool's errand), Paul Beedie (all-round fitness guru), Mark Ashman (who's flying over from France to take part), and Jonathan Visser (the fool who mistakenly forced the issue of actually doing this walk and the writer of this piece).

Paul lost his son Oliver in a road traffic accident and the charity was there to help him and his family through the pain that caused. Having met Paul through work I know he's passionate about supporting them as much as possible in return and in fact has done a golf day every year since 2008 to do just that.

Paul mistakenly mentioned doing this walk during one of our meetings about a year ago, and being into walking/hiking already I thought what could possibly be difficult about that?! Marathons are only 26 miles and they do those in a few hours! The difference of course is it's a test of endurance with a lot of pressure on the feet/hips etc as you are on your feet continuously and Paul and I aren't exactly super-fit either. So we're clearly on to a winner.

The aim of course is to do this in less than 24 hours, but endurance treks like this tend to use that as the target so we figured we'd use the same. Anything you can donate, or if you wish to participate along all/part of the route to show support or raise funds too, please do get in touch.
