Story

Every year, hospices in the UK provide more than 26 million hours of care and support to over 360,000 people.

From managing someone’s pain to supporting them and their family emotionally and socially, hospices help and inspire people to live the end of their lives to the full.   Yet only a third of the funding needed to provide these vital services comes from government. The rest, more than £1.9m per day, must be raised by hospices themselves.

That’s why a team from Clydesdale Bank’s Legal and Governance department are wiping down their walking boots to take on a new hiking challenge. It was the Yorkshire Dales last year and now we’re raiding the Scottish Borders in support of Hospice UK.

We will be taking on a tough 26 mile route in the Tweed Valley and aim to raise a minimum of £5,000, which the Bank will match pound for pound.

We're grateful for any contribution you can make.  In return, as well as knowing that you are supporting the development and professionalism of end of life care in the UK, we’ll provide you with embarrassing stories from our preparations as well as ridiculous pictures from the challenge itself.

Surely that’s worth a couple of pounds?
