“He not busy being born is busy dying” sings Dylan.
Every once in a while you get a chance to live life to the limit and isn't it sweeter when it’s also a chance to help a cause that’s worthwhile and lasting ? In October I aim to do both by taking on the challenge to ascend Kilimanjaro in aid of the charity Co-operation Ireland.
For 10 days I’ll be swopping laptop and suit for sturdy boots and a journey into the thin air of Africa’s highest mountain. At 19,340 feet, or around 6000m, Kili is not exactly a trivial trek. It’s within a few degrees of the equator and contains virtually every ecosystem on earth – glacier, snowfields, deserts, alpine moorland, savannah, and up top it gets below -20C at night !
Your support will keep me inspired through the training and help me to “keep on keeping on” up the mountain. Your donation will be even more appreciated by my chosen cause.
Co-operation Ireland is a peace-building charity, working with all communities north and south on the island of Ireland to foster and nurture at grass roots level the peace which has been achieved at political level. Some of its most important work is in engaging schools, youth and community projects to help young people in building a brighter future for themselves and their families.
So please dig deep and donate now - and stay busy being born !
