In the last decade almost 500 UK military personnel have lost their lives in the service of our country. The majority aged between 18 and 29 years old; young people in the peak of physical fitness and with everything to live for.   While we can’t help them, we can still help their families and the many more young men and women who have suffered and continue to suffer from horrific physical and mental injuries.  For them every day is a battle, they need and deserve our support; each and every one of them is a true hero, so please give generously.

For me, the plight of these brave young people has been brought firmly into perspective when my son Matthew recently joined the Army.  He is due to deploy to Afghanistan shortly.  Being the anxious mother I am, I needed  something to keep myself occupied with and what better cause than ‘Help for Heroes’.

 So I thought putting ones rather large bum into a saddle seemed a good place to start. A 300 mile journey over 4 days from London to Paris would represent a suitable personal ‘Everest’ for a lady of my age and character.  The 95 miles on the first day is scary enough, let alone the following 205!  I must be the only person hoping that May isn’t going to be too hot this year!  Thankfully I will not be alone, as I am joined by my equally mad friends, Jenny and Linda and together we form ‘The Tri-cycle Trollops’. I have set a target of £2000, every penny that is donated will go to the charity as i am covering all costs myself. I am asking for your support for myself and Matt and his fellow service men and women.
