Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Being a very keen cyclist and visited the Pyrenees for many years I am going to ride in the L'Etape Du Tour to raise money for the Meningitis Research Foundation. This event consists of riding 148km in the French Pyrenean mountains, following the footsteps of many famous cyclists such as Miguel Indurain and Bradley Wiggins. The route includes two of the most famous mountain climbs in cycling history, the Col Du Tourmalet  which rises up above 2115m and the Hautacam which rises up to 1520m. This stage is the exact route that the professional Tour De France will be riding on the 24th of July - four days after my event.

This charity has been chosen because there is a link to me as my mum had meningitis as a baby and fortunately recovered. So by partaking in the event I am both grateful that I am capable of this and at the same time raising funds to help research into this devastating disease which can kill or disable in hours.

Your contribution in supporting me will help too fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia.

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
