Few friends and I decided this year to take on the Advent Running Challenge; 30 mins of running everyday, outdoors, come rain or shine, in the lead up to Christmas. More importantly, I’m running to raise money for a charity that is working hard to tackle food poverty and hunger in our local communities. This winter is tougher than many we have faced before and we have seen a record number of people in crisis being referred to Foodbanks. No one in the community should have to face going hungry. A box of food makes a big difference.

In Birmingham, Aston and Nechells food supplies tend to be particularly low and demands are very high. I have been advised by the food bank community to raise awareness for this particular site to help them stay afloat during this unsettling time. The amount of people offering support, even in these uncertain times, has been incredibly heart warming and encouraged us to put this JustGiving page together. I am extremely grateful for any contributions made, as every little helps and all donations will be directed straight to the charity.. 

Day 10 and my back and knees are screaming to stop, but I’m determined to continue running for another 15 days if it means there is more support and awareness being raised for the great work the food banks are doing. My husband can vouch for the amount of running I have done and grateful to him for encouraging me to do this and juggling lots to make it possible.
