Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My mum Margaret (Rita) passed away on the 18th March this year.  She spent most of her life living with Schizophrenia (only properly diagnosed and treated since 2006 when she was 60 years old).  She had great difficulty accepting her mental health condition due to the stigma she attached to it and was never able to live her life to the full.  She spent the last ten years of her life crippled by agoraphobia and had little interest in socialising.

After her death, I have taken steps to improve my own mental and physical health by training for the Great Scottish Run 10k on Sunday 29th September.

I chose to run for GAMH to help raise awareness of ALL mental health conditions and to help end the stigma surrounding Mental Health.
