Story
Well, well ,well! Here it is again.
I will be taking part in this years Great North Run on behalf of St.Cuthbert's Hospice in Durham and also in memory of my exceptional late dad, David William Young.
Having taken part in 2013, this year I look forward to raising money for such a tremendous cause. St.Cuthbert's provide palliative and respite care for those with terminal and severe illness.
My dad was one of their patients last year and the hospice were critical in providing my dad with the right care in order to get his pain medication levelled out. Although my dad spent a short time in the hospice, I want to raise money as I would like families like my own to continue to have the use of such facilities. My dad was truly taken care of during his time in the hospice and I cannot thank the staff enough for the service they provided.
Sadly, David (a.k.a Poppa Bear to me) passed away on July 2nd 2014 at home after battling with cancer. I love him and miss him every day and I want to continue to make him proud. He continues to inspire me and I often turn to this blog he wrote in 2013 about his travels to California, and the reality of fulfilling his childhood dream to visit the Bonneville Salt Flats. Hopefully those of you who read it can take some inspiration from my dads journey and realise life is too short to wait around!
Beccy.
