In June and July this year, I'll finally be doing the much-talked-about end to end on two wheels. The record timing is just over 41 hours for a distance of about 850 miles... but we'll be taking our time and won't exactly be taking the shortest of routes! We'll be starting from the southerly-most point in England, Lizard Point in Cornwall, warming up towards Lands End and then turning north up to and through the Welsh borders. We'll skirt through Liverpool, then through the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, past Carlisle and over to Edinburgh and the Scottish hills until we can't cycle any further at John O Groats!
I'll be doing the distance with Mike and we are both looking forward to super support from Andy for the first week and Guy, Alex and Vicky for the last stretch in Scotland. Our total estimated total distance will be about 1100 miles over three weeks, so hopefully the knees will last out... bring on that malt loaf and Guinness too!
Why am I supporting Parkinson's? My US grandfather continues to fight a daily battle with Parkinson's - he was an Naval Architect, an excellent artist and probably a major reason for any creative and engineering streak I have.
