As some of you know, I'm raising money for the Alzheimer's Society, which is a charity really close to my heart after I lost my Mum to Dementia February 2014 at an age of only 64. Mum had vascular dementia which eventually took the mum I knew away from me and my family. Today, we miss her very much but I know she would want us to carry on and help other families who need support and raise awareness on this ever growing disease.

Dementia has become such a prevalent disease and there are now over 800,000 sufferers in the UK alone.  It not only affects the patients but their families as well as they do their best to help and care for their loved one.

Our chosen charity, The Alzheimer's Society has provided invaluable support throughout her illness in the form of advice and services in my area.  The knowledge of other sufferers is shared and genuine help afforded in various directions.  As well as running quality care and support services, the charity funds research and campaigns for improved health and social care and a greater public understanding of dementia.  Their vision is of a radically improved world for people with dementia and they work hard to ensure no one goes through the illness alone.  They rely 100% on voluntary donations so every single pound counts and will help fund the charity's vital work.
