Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Next March I am trekking in the foothills of Annapurna in Nepal to help raise funds for Thames Hospicecare. To answer the question Why? There are 2 reasons, on the personal front it is the challenge of trekking in beautiful scenery, of climbing hills (which is a huge personal challenge I don’t normally do hills) and camping (don't normally do camping either!) Professionally, Thames Hospicecare provides care and support to the whole person not just the symptoms they experience and therefore a whole range of services are available to support the needs of each person. I am now a Macmillan nurse but for many years was the senior sister for the Hospice @ Home service at Thames Hospicecare and believe passionately in patients having a real and valid choice for their prefered place of care. The Hospice at Home service also provides respite care for carers enabling them to have a small amount of time for themselves knowing their loved one is being cared for by compassionate and professional staff,
