Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm Lucy Wood and my Mum suffers from LAM which is a very rare disease without a cure. We would really appreciate donations to the charity and we are hoping to complete this challenge without any problems.
We will be travelling on every London underground line without stopping and including every line except for the cable car, trams or buses.
LAM Action is the UK charity for those with Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), their families and doctors caring for them. LAM is a rare lung disease that occurs almost exclusively in women. There are approximately 350 women in the United Kingdom who have LAM and around 25 new cases are diagnosed each year. It appears to occur worldwide and to be equally rare in other countries.
LAM predominantly affects the lungs, where it causes excessive growth of smooth muscle cells which progressively destroy lung tissue and erode lung function. Although research is ongoing, currently there is no cure for LAM and effective treatment is limited. For some women with LAM lung transplantation is their only means of survival.
