I am walking for the children I teach; for the books and opportunities that I wish we could buy them; for their difficult home lives and every additional struggle placed upon them. I believe that school should be a secure place for our children, with consistent and passionate teachers. It should be a place to aspire, not another to survive.

Teach First works to place enthusiastic graduates in schools where there is a high number of pupils on free school meals. These are challenging schools and often have a high staff turnover. But these are also schools where lives can be transformed.

It's time, post-Camino, to get my walking sticks back out and switch my sandals and socks for proper walking boots! (and maybe a hat, scarf and umbrella?!)
