Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In November 2019, we will finally travel to Uganda to Run the Rift Marathon in aid of KCDC. It's been a long slog getting here through injuries, surgery and exams to name but a few. Only Lou will make it to the starting line of the marathon but Lydia will manage the 10km despite surgery.

The race itself is nothing short of brutal! Its at altitude, on the equator and in hot temperatures. Something neither of us are used to. The steepest uphill is 16.7% over 1.44km, with a maximum elevation of 1655m. Quite tricky to train for in South East England.

Based in Fort Portal, in the Kabarole District of western Uganda, KCDC was established to provide much needed high quality, specialised and affordable assessment, treatment, education and support to children with disabilities, and their families and carers, to enable them to lead more independent lives. For more information see their website - http://www.kyaningacdc.org/

Any donation that you can spare is gratefully received for this amazing cause. We'll both provide you with updates on our fundraising and training along the way, both in person and online.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
