Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. It is in memory of Lynda Littler. Lynda and family would prefer a gift to this charity instead of flowers for the reasons below.
We have chosen this charity as they helped, cared and supported us through a very difficult time. They helped Lynda achieve her wish of dying at home surrounded by her family in peace.
The hospice relies on charitable donations to continue its good work. In particular a new service called 'Hospice at Home' which helps families keep their loved ones in their own home. Here they can have the same care and treatment received in a hospice or hospital but in familiar surroundings with family and friends around them.
Lynda's wish was to die at home and between the specialist nurses and 'Hospice at Home' team she achieved this.
Bernie the specialist nurse cared over many months with visits and phone calls alleviating symptoms and with psychological support.
Alison from the 'Hospice at Home' team cared for Lynda in the final few hours after a difficult and restless night. She maintained her dignity, treated symptoms and kept both Lynda and her family comfortable, calm and at home. She died shortly after with Malcolm, John and Mary at her side holding her hands.
We hope through your donations other families can such a positive experience in a difficult time.
