Story

Sarah's story... Well, it's finally here - the FULL MARATHON; 26.2miles. It's a massive feat and I've never covered this distance in a week, let alone a whole day!!! On Monday 25th October, we will be at the start line in Dublin wondering why we signed up for this in the 1st place, so your support really is needed. Most of you know about how much time and effort I have put into training, well, I'm not just running for the fun of it: Me and Lynsey are aiming to raise as much money as possible for a charity close to our hearts, so please give as much as you can. Feel free to suggest songs to listen to on our MP3s on the way round, I think we'll need the encouragement!

Lynsey's story... as many of you close to me know, running doesn't come naturally to me. So the fact that I am planning to run 26 miles is a big deal. Massive in fact. Big thanks go to Sarah for getting me this far - she's put up with lots of moaning, huffing and puffing and the odd tantrum along the way. And I'm sure there will be more of it on the way round the Dublin Marathon! However, saying that, the more I run and train, the more I'm enjoying it .. and I'm liking the affect this running is having on my legs!

To commemorate the fact that we are running our first marathon together we've decided to raise money for the charity Guide Dogs.

This is a charity that is close to my heart as my mum is registered as partially sighted. Watching mum's sight deteriorate is really sad but at least she still has some sight left. I can understand how much people must rely on their dogs to help them keep their independance. It takes a lot of time to train a Guide Dog, so please give generously.

We're kicking off the fundraising by running the Great North Run on the 19th September in fancy dress.. we're hoping for a picture with Ant & Dec.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
