Story

Seven of us are being supported through the HFMA Northern Branch to take part in the Mad March Mare, a 10k assault course with a range of obstacles destined to get us all wet and muddy.

We are raising funds for 2 charities, SHINE and CHUF.

SHINE is a charitable fund that helps support people who use Cumbria, Northumberland Tyne & Wear mental health services. SHINE stands for Support, Hope, Inspire, Nurture and Empower. The fund helps support people by providing the extra things, like therapeutic activities or items of comfort to assist with people's care, things that can make a real difference.

CHUF, the Children's Heart Unit Fund mission is to make life better for children and young people who are born with or who develop heart conditions by providing lifelong support to them and their families. CHUF supports children and families who receive treatment at the Children's Heart Unit based at the Freeman Hospital and the many other hospitals providing care for cardiac patients throughout the North of England.

About the charity

SHINE make a huge difference to the experience of service users cared for in our hospital sites and community services across the North East and Cumbria. Donations can provide the support for the extra things that would not be possible from funding we receive from central government alone.
