Story
I am re-enacting the Canterbury Walk that I completed over 20 years ago following the Pilgrims Way covering 50 miles over 2 days to raise money for Stella on the 29th/30th May 2010.
I think I'm going to ache a bit more than the last time I walked the route, lets just hope it doesn't rain. I'll be sleeping on Detling Parish Hall floor for a night which should be interesting for Sunday, although it will be worth it if we can raise enough funds for Stella.
Stella was diagnosed with neuroblastoma (high risk), originating from her adrenal gland at 17 months old. At the time of diagnosis the cancer had grown to a huge size in her belly, which to treat has required 70 days of aggressive chemotherapy; major surgery to remove the primary tumour; a stem cell rescue that wipes out her bone marrow, three weeks of radio therapy and six months of oral chemotherapy. She has now developed liver problems as a result of this harsh but necessary regime. In spite of all this treatment, her chances of survival are 20% and a relapse is very likely, but an expensive antibody therapy, not currently available in the UK, will increase her chance to 80%.
Stella requires expensive treatment in the US which is why we are trying to raise as much money as possible.
Please help us help Stella. Visit her website at www.forstella.org and www.stella-appeal.org
