We provide expert care and support to young people with cancer

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am a Year 8 Form Tutor at Tytherington School in Macclesfield Cheshire. I love working with teenagers they never cease to amaze me! We had an assembly one Friday morning and a representative for the Teenage Cancer Trust came in to give a talk to our
students. She showed us a video of some of the patients who are going through treatment, it was so moving to see these teenagers facing this terrible disease and remaining so positive and showing such courage. They have their whole lives ahead of them and deserve to have a long happy
and fulfilled life, if they can face their fears and fight for their lives then what’s to stop me from jumping out of a plane?! A skydive is something I have wanted to do for about a year BUT just kept thinking about it! What better way to make me do it than for this great cause! I used to be fearful of life but after facing my demons I live a life today that I love. I have learnt that I can’t do it on my own and I am fortunate enough to have some amazing people in my life that have helped me and continue to ‘One Day at a Time’.

Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer’ Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity dedicated to making this happen. Whatever you’re going through right now, you’re not alone. Get support whether you have cancer, you’re worried about cancer or someone you know has been given a cancer diagnosis. It’s hard enough being a teenager, let alone having to cope with cancer. Without Teenage Cancer Trust, young people can receive treatment in isolation from people their age, without specialist nurses or support workers.
Please donate as much as you can to transform the lives of young people with cancer.

£25 could pay for 1 hour of time
for a Youth Support Co-ordinator, who’ll be there for young people and help them
get together and support each other.

£50 could buy a round of pizzas
for a young person and their friends, which might just be the first thing that
tempts a young person out of bed after a gruelling round of chemo.

£100 could pay for 5 hours of time
from one of our Multi-Disciplinary Team Co-ordinators, so they can build links
with NHS staff, find out about every young cancer patient and arrange the right
support.

£230 could buy a real hair wig and
salon styling from our Hair4U project – and help make the pain of hair loss a
little easier to deal with.

£500 could pay for a young
person to make a film to express their feelings and help family and friends
understand what they’re going through.

It will mean so much to be able to raise as much as we possibly can. I will be taking
my husband with me so he can video it……….. I am sure he will get great pleasure in seeing me scream and the colour drain from my face!
