Story
On 8th and 9th of May I’m going to be taking on three of the UK’s most impressive mountains – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just one day to raise money to support some of the world's most vulnerable children. Our team will be walking 24 miles, driving 1,207 miles and climbing 10,000 feet over 24 hours braving unknown weather conditions and physical trials to make a difference to the lives of children who really need our help.
The Hotcourses Foundation provides an education for over 500 children who either live in the slums of Nairobi or who attend the Hotcourses Primary School in Kitui. Many have been orphaned by AIDS and are HIV+ themselves. They all receive life-saving ARV therapy but many cannot afford to pay Kenyan school fees. This is where the Foundation steps in. An education provides the children with the means to improve their impoverished circumstances and gives them the chance of a better future...and surely every child deserves a chance. He lives with his mother and 2 older brothers. His mother is taking Septrine and he is on antiretrovirals whilst his brothers are HIV-. His mother washes clothes and digs to earn a living. Eliud is aged 6 years and has had many difficulties because his milk teeth rotted. He can say his ABC and likes writing in English.
I would love to raise £1,000 for this very worthy cause and need you my family, friends and work colleagues to help me get there. Any donations would be welcomed and I pledge to you that I will put everything I have into the challenge to ensure that those wonderful kids get the right education and support they need to increase their quality of life. We could honestly make a huge difference.
Thanks in advance,
Marcella xxx
