Story
My main purpose is to raise funds to support vulnerable women and children in Sri Lanka. My target is to raise £10,000 for Stage 1 of my trek (now achieved), and then a further £10,000 for Stage 2 (now achieved) and then another £10,000 for Stage 3 in 2024.
My primary objective is relatively simple i.e. to travel, in under 10 weeks in total, from Galle in the south of Sri Lanka to Jaffna in the north. I’ll do this by walking, cycling and by tuk tuk, with a train journey to get around some of the mountains. Total distance to travel will be around 1500km.
My trip is a culmination of 10 years spent volunteering in Sri Lanka. I completed Stage 1 during Easter 2022, Stage 2 during Easter 2023 and the final stage I've planned for Easter 2024. I fund my own flights, leave from work as well as all expenses. Therefore, 100% of funds I raise goes to help those who really need it and I'm fully involved in how it's distributed.
