Story

Thanks for considering donating to me.

My sister challenged me to do the Great North Run. Unfortunately it has been cancelled for obvious reasons. I'm not a natural runner and the training has been hard. But I've got up to12 miles so far so don't want to waste my training.

I've chosen NALC as my charity as they are small, do vital work supporting people who have had laryngeal cancer and had to have their voice boxes removed (laryngectomees) and have recently had their funding stopped from another well know charity.

As a speech therapist working in head and neck cancer laryngectomees form a big part of my caseload. So anything that supports their wellbeing is good in my eyes 😊

About the charity

The association was formed in 1976 with the objective to promote the welfare and rehabilitation of laryngectomy patients and their families. To be of assistance to those professionals working in the field of laryngectomy. NALC collects and disseminates relevant information and has an education programme which includes seminars for both patients and professionals. The association offers various services including counselling and a help and referral service. NALC has an extensive range of literature and DVD’s. We support relevant studies and clinical trials in their application for funding. Our members contribute by reviewing patient leaflets and joining steering committees.
