Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Just to update you - I successfully completed the London Marathon on Sunday 25th April 2010 in 4 hours 19mins!! (see photos).
I took up running in December 2008 and completed my first marathon in 4 hours 22 mins (Belfast City Marathon May 2009). This was a personal challenge and having achieved this I felt I could do one for the Meningitis Research Foundation. I have had three cases of meningitis in my family. My daughter Sinead had meningitis as a child and fortunately made a complete recovery as did my uncle. Tragically, however, my granddaughter Ava died aged 9 months with meningitis septicaemia, on 23rd June 2006. I am running the marathon in her memory and in doing so hope to raise vital funds for the foundation and awareness of this killer disease.
