Dear friends,

As some of you already know, I will be travelling to Africa on the 17th October.

The main purpose of my trip is to go to Uganda and work for two weeks as a volunteer teacher through a charity called “Edirisa”. I will spend my time between the nursery and helping the permanent teachers there.

Edirisa UK was founded in 2005 by Sheila Windridge and supports the Edirisa organisation in Uganda. Edirisa was started at Bufuka Primary School on the shores of Lake Bunyoni in South West Uganda providing support to the school and running workshops with the children. It was here where the initial funds raised by Edirisa UK were invested in their first project: building Bufuka nursery school.
Since then they have expanded their activities to other schools in the area. They currently run 2 nursery schools, refurbish other school buildings, build water harvesting tanks and support special needs education.

Both my friends David and Elaine have already seen how much Edirisa has done for the people and children of Uganda and it is my turn to contribute a little to their work.

In addition to looking for volunteers, Edirisa is always in need for funds and I would really appreciate if you could spare a few pounds for them.
