Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This summer I am undertaking a series of sporting endurance events and am hoping to raise money for Ethiopia Education Aid.

I have already completed the Skipton Sprint Triathlon on 18th April in a time of 1:21:31 for the 400 metre swim, 20k bike ride and 5k run (see photos).

Having completed on 16th May the Etape du Dales, which is a 112 miles bike ride around the Yorkshire Dales taking in most of the main climbs, including Fleet Moss, Buttertubs, Tan Hill and the Coal Road, I am moving on to my next event.

On The 5th June I will be competing in the Coniston Standard Triathlon at the Olympic distance of 1500 metres open water swim; 40k bike ride and 10k run. This will be my first open water competition and is taking place in Coniston Water in the English Lake District.

I am also planning on entering the Gullane triathlon in July and in August will be riding the bike leg of the Wensleydale Triathlon as part of a relay team.

I will also be entering another cycling sportive or two. More about these later.

Ethiopia Education Aid is a Christian organisation whose deepest desire is to support young people and orphans in Ethiopia to receive an education and reach their full potential. We encourage students to gain a qualification or trade to enable them to earn a living. This not only helps the young person but can
transform the lives of the whole family and the wider community
.

Young people in Ethiopia are desperate for education.
However, due to serious poverty many intelligent young
people are robbed of this opportunity. They often have to work on family subsistence farms, look after siblings because their parents have died or take
menial jobs just to survive.

About the charity

Ethiopia Education Aid (EEA) supports seriously poor young people to attend school and have access to further education. We fund students whilst at school and through college so they can gain qualifications and a trade, in order to earn a living and use their skills to benefit the local community. Ethiopia is a very poor country where nothing really does mean nothing. Without support young people have no hope of attending further education, which is not free like the UK but must be paid for. Therefore, EEA aims to help as many young people as possible to attend school and further education. Our hope is to provide an opportunity to end the cycle of poverty for some young people in Ethiopia.
