Story

As natural suckers for punishment, we are leading a 16 mile sponsored walk from Richmond to the London Eye on 17 October to raise money for World Child Cancer who help children with cancer in developing countries.   We are both committed (or soon should be!) to raising as much money as we can to save children’s lives.  We would be very grateful if you could join us in supporting an important but sadly neglected cause.

The diagnosis of cancer in a child is terrifying for them and their family.  It's even more heartbreaking in the developing world where only one child in ten survives, compared to eight in ten in developed countries.

You may not know but, child cancer is highly curable yet in the developing world tens of thousands of children die every year because of a lack of basic treatment.  This is outrageous when you realise that there is an answer to save children’s lives.  The answer is simply money.  Simple and inexpensive procedures for treating child cancer have been known to doctors for decades.  World Child Cancer develops international twinning partnerships between medics, hospitals and parent support groups to improve diagnosis and treatment to increase survival rates.  Please go to www.worldchildcancer.org which shows the amazing work already being done with the money currently raised.

We both want to save the lives of kids.  A cost of £50 will provide life saving drugs for one child.  The target we have set ourselves is providing 20 children with life saving treatment.  Even small donations will help so anything you donate really will make a difference.

In low- and middle-income countries fewer than 1 in 10 children with cancer are diagnosed, treated or given pain relief. World Child Cancer improves cancer care for some of the world’s poorest children by creating international twinning partnerships between medics hospitals and parent support groups
