Story

On 9th July, I will complete a 32 mile walk from Swanage pier to the White Hart pub in Lymington, with the aim of raising both money and awareness for Rubenstein Taybi Syndrome and its associated charity.

Rubenstein Taybi Syndrome (RTS) is an ultra rare genetic condition affecting the individual's physical health and cognitive development. Characteristics include; abnormalities in physical appearance, learning disabilities, abnormal behaviour, cardiac and respiratory difficulties. For more details on symptoms visit:  http://rtsuk.org/about-rts/

My younger brother, Greg, has type 2 RTS. This has an incidence of roughly 1 in 4 million and because of this, there is little knowledge and support for the condition. Therefore it is vital for awareness to be raised and for funding to be provided for the charity to further aid affected individuals and their families.

About the charity

We are a small national charity supporting families affected by RTS, a rare chromosome disorder, the main features of which are a learning disability and a high incidence of various physical and behavioural problems. We are entirely dependent on donations and all funds directly benefit families.
