Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I just wanted to say a huge personal Thank You for your kind donations. I never dreamt that nearly £8,000.00 would be raised but it just go's to show how generous you have all been donating to a great cause in memory of such a great guy.
I ran the Marathon in memory of my Father-In-Law and Friend Colin Henderson. He was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in December 2008 and sadly passed away in January 2010 which as you can imagine has had a huge effect on our Family life.
When I decided I was going to run the marathon in memory of Colin my goal was to run sub 4 hours. My official finish time was 4 hours, 4 minutes and 44 seconds and my split time for the marathon distance of 26.2 miles was 4 hours & 1 minute. So close but yet so far!! I cant be too disappointed though considering I had a training lay off of 4 weeks due to a knee injury 6 weeks prior to Marathon day so all in all I was pretty pleased.
There is frustratingly no cure for this tragic disease and current research into finding one appears to be limited which is why the money raised will aid further research into helping to find a cure together with assisting the people who do a fantastic job caring for sufferers throughout the UK.
The photo above is me at the finish area sporting my finishers medal alongside my wife Emma (Colin's eldest Daughter) who cheered me on around the course.
