We are teaching Jamaican families to swim to improve water safety in Treasure Beach

Story

Hi everyone, I'm honoured to be running the London Landmarks half marathon in April 2024 to raise money for a friends charity: Likkle Swimmers. Likkle Swimmers is an incredible charity teaching children and adults to swim for FREE in the fishing village of Treasure Beach, Jamaica. I would be so so grateful for any donations  Hopefully they’ll give me the push when my legs can’t!!

Likkle Swimmers story:

In May 2014, a 4 year old boy was pulled out to sea in Treasure beach by a riptide; his father swam out and saved his life, but then tragically drowned before their eyes. Since then others have also lost their lives due to drowning accidents. Charlotte became very close to the family and the community out there, and decided to do something about it. So her aim is to change this and to give the children an opportunity to learn a new skill, and gain confidence which in turn will hopefully save lives and provide jobs in the community of Treasure beach.

In May 2014, a 4 year old boy was pulled out to sea by a riptide; his father swam out and saved his life, but then tragically drowned before their eyes. We have discovered that so few of the children can swim, because they are surrounded by fear and no access to lessons and we want to change this.
