Story

I hobbled across the finish line after 6 hours and 55 minutes. Knees knackered after half way. Not exactly olympic standard, but At least I finished!! A huge Thank You to everyone who sponsored me xxx

For some reason my knees, feet and back are hurting more than they have in months. Isn't this 24 hours too soon?

Feeling a little nervous, but it's too late to do anything about it now! Went on BBC Breakfast, so now everybody knows I'm doing it- so no escape!

Thanks for visiting my London Marathon 2010 sponsorship page. Well.....the days are ticking by...and I'm about as un-ready to run a marathon as you could possibly imagine. Everybody I tell thinks I am completely MAD, and they don't seem at all impressed that I'm now up o 20 minutes Without Stopping on the running machine! Seriously, I realise I am facing one of the biggest challenges of my life. I don't run. I don't like running.  I've had exercise induced asthma since childhood and have never been particularly 'sporty' as a result.  In one of my school reports, the PE teacher commented  'Tries hard, but finds nearly all forms of physical activity nearly impossible....'  So here I am contemplating 26 point-whatever-it- is miles. Hey, I can do 2 miles (just!), so that's only 13 times as far- what's all the fuss about ?!"**?!! So why am I enduring this?? The pain of training...  The pain on race day.... The pain for goodness know how many days after.....The answer is that if I manage to raise some money to allow Make a Wish to grant the wishes another youngster with a life-threatening illness, then everything will have been worth it. The average cost of granting a wish is £4000, so that's what I'm hoping to raise. Anything you can give towards my goal would be very much appreciated- and please don't make it dependent on me finishing!!!

With all good wishes.  Martin xxxxx
