Story
Please help support Team Orca's attempt at Trailwalker 2013. This section from the event website that sums up what it is:
"Trailwalker was originally started by the Queen's Gurkha Signals Regiment over 30 years ago as a training exercise to test soldiers' stamina and teamwork skills. The challenge is to complete the 100km Trailwalker trail, across the South Downs, in under 30 hours in teams of four. Is it tough? Of course. Is it worth it? Absolutely."
Though I always knew it would be a huge challenge, I've done a few endurance events before and it can be difficult to get away from the idea that it's "just a walk". Until a recent training walk. My legs ached. My feet were in pieces. We were nowhere near 100km.
The 100km distance is gruelling enough but the cumulative hill climbs total more than 2500m - the same as climbing both Ben Nevis and Snowdon combined. In 2012 only 77% of the teams that started reached the finish line whilst only 50% of the teams that did finish completed it as a four.
The cause, Oxfam, speaks for itself and helps a huge number of people across the globe. Every little bit you donate will push us a little bit along the way and will be hugely appreciated by both Oxfam and Team Orca.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
Thank you
