Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For some time, I've wanted to support Springboard and their amazing staff and volunteers. Especially for the support and happiness they bring to our son Chester, who is 8 years old and has autism. He loves Springboard and get's so excited when he knows he's going :)
My fundraising challenge is to run the Barns Green Half Marathon on 30 September, and I'm hoping to make every step count. My knees are a little sore these days but I have no excuses as every penny you donate will be an incentive to run faster.
For those unfamiliar with Springboard, they welcome children (with or without disabilities) and their families for inclusive play and social opportunities.
Springboard provides short breaks for children and young people aged 0-25 in Horsham, Crawley, Worthing and Sutton. Throughout term time groups meet on Saturday morning and one evening per week. During every school holiday activities run daily. The group is facilitated by staff and volunteers from the local community who are pared 1:1 with each child. Sessions vary from in-house at Springboard to the cinema, cycling, farm visits and theme parks. The main aims of the group are:
- Improve disabled children's social lives
- Increase life skills and independence
- Enhance family wellbeing and relationships
