I am climbing Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa on 10th August.  Whilst doing so I want to create an awareness and help raise funds for two very worthy charities - Cancer Research UK and Mad4Africa.

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. Their groundbreaking work has saved millions of lives.

THE JOURNEY:-

7th August
Fly into Nairobi

8th August
8/9 hour journey by bus to Moshi, located on the southern slopes of Mt
Kilimanjaro and home to the Chagga and Masai tribes.

10th August
The start of my journey to the ‘Roof of Africa’ at 5895m, Africa’s highest mountain.

15th August
We reach the top.  Making our way through rainforest.  Camping out in the wild.  Night temperatures dropping way below freezing.  30 degrees + in the daytime.  Forest.  Moorland.  Rocky interlocking ridges. Mountain side plateaus.  Glaciers and ice curtains.  Deep vegetation.  Dorment volcanic activity.  Hanging cliffs.  Walls covered with glistening ice.  Deep set valleys.  The jagged peaks of Mawenzi jutting into the African sky.  Supreme sunrises.  Snow.  Scree paths...........

5/6 days, 8 hours a day of intense trekking!!!!

17th August
Arrive back down in Moshi after a 2 day decline

18th, 19th & 20th August
Rest and explore

21st August
Fly back to Manchester
