Story

That's it, I'm done. Training is now finished.

I started my training plan on the 30th November last year. Since then I've logged 181 training sessions in 30 weeks, swum 75 miles, cycled 2400 miles and run 400 miles. I've done over 260 hours worth of exercise and burnt over 175,000 calories.

I've been running at midnight and setting off for bike rides at 5.30am. When the snow was deep in Jan and Feb, I was trudging through it in my running shoes and having fun on my mountain bike.

I've run past the Hoover dam just outside Vegas, got stung by jellyfish in the mediterranean, had near misses with numerous deer in Epping forest and launched myself head first off my bike at 24mph.

I met Bradley Wiggins and all the other Team Sky riders at the launch in London (it was -6 when I left home that morning) and passed Alan Sugar out on a Sunday morning ride in the Essex lanes.

I remembered some of the stuff I learnt as a kid, like dont play with your nuts after you've just applied Deep Heat. I've learnt some new stuff, like don't pick your nose, or scratch inside your ear after just applying Deep Heat!

It's been a journey and it's nearly finished, all I have to do now is rest for the last week, put my feet on the sofa and stuff myself with pasta, cakes biscuit and coke for a week.

Oh, and get through the race next Sunday!

I really appreciate all the sponsorship and support everyone has given me, all that's left is for me to do it!

The gun goes at 7am.

My strategy is to get through the swim comfortably, which should be fine. I love swimming and am hoping that bit will go well. The bike should be a doddle, it's 112 miles but last year I did 120 miles a day for 8 days in a row, so no big shakes! But then comes the run. I hate running and I'm rubbish at it. My Mum and Dad watched me do a half marathon once and have never watched me run again. They found it so agonising. I'm hoping to get half way through the run before I start hurting. If I have to, I'll walk. Realistically I need to get a decent amount run otherwise I won't get in by 11pm.

So really, for me, it all starts about 10 - 13 miles into the run. I'll get there fine, what happens after that is anyones guess but one things for sure, it won't be pretty.

Wish me luck. I'll post here sometime when I'm done and can find the energy!
