Story
Dear All,
On the 22nd April this year my father passed away from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). It is a rare neurological condition caused by the premature loss of nerve cells in certain parts of the brain. PSP is a cruel disease that leads to difficulty with balance, movement, vision, speech and swallowing. Dad was a fit, healthy, independent fun loving man who was slowly but progressively robbed of all of this due to PSP.
There is currently no cure for PSP and research is limited. The PSP Association do amazing work in providing support and advice to those suffering as well as their families, along with pushing forward with clinical research to hopefully find a much needed cure.
I’d like to give something back to the charity that helped our
family so much and to raise funds for extra research to eventually find a cure so that others do not have to go through what my Dad did.
On the 22nd of September I will be participating in the Snowdon Triple challenge. This includes climbing 15km to the summit of Snowdon, cycling 17km around the lake shore of Llyn Padarn and finally kayaking for 4km around Llyn Padarn lake - all in a day!
I have never entered anything like this but I’d like to try and raise as much money as possible for a charity that gets very little funding.
Thank you all for your generosity.
Matt
