Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Dementia affects people in many different ways; it's not just the well-known symptoms such as memory loss, but also disorientating symptoms such as confusing and jumbling words, and visual impairment with field of vision reduced to around 12 inches (30cm).
I am doing the 2.6 challenge, so named because of the 26 miles people would normally run for the London Marathon which is, now, not happening on the 26th of April as it normally would. The marathon is normally a source of a lot of fundraising for UK charities, who might miss out if we don't all do our bit.
My challenge:
- My vision will be impaired by disorientating goggles, that I have been kindly loaned by my friend Adrian Hide.
- I will be given 26 minutes to complete 26 'simple' Treasure Hunt clues... but the words will have been jumbled up.
- I will be videoing my attempt, which I do not expect to complete. The point here is to raise awareness of just how disorientating, scary, and bewildering the world can be for dementia sufferers ... and also to raise some money for this fabulous cause.
